So, I've learned that even though I can grow just about anything in the AeroGarden, it doesn't mean I should grow just about anything.
With its shallow basin and relatively low light height (the Harvest Lights only extend to 1 foot instead of more than 2 feet in the more advanced models), the AeroGarden seems to me to be the perfect way to start and maintain plants with similarly shallow root depth.
For instance, lettuce.
Trying a couple of types of lettuces in this batch of seedlings.
However, I did try growing cherry tomato varieties (indeterminate) and although surprised at how quickly they sprouted - 24 to 26 hours - was just as surprised when they quickly surpassed the height of the AeroGarden.
Here you can see the cherry tomatoes overtake the bell pepper seedlings. No good since they will also monopolize the light. Fortunately, moving the seedlings to pots wasn't a challenge at all since I had experience with transplanting.
