Aerogarden - Week 1

It's been a week already and a lot has happened.  But before I get to that, I wanted to emphasize how easy it's been "maintaining" the proper environment for my seedlings.

1. Hands-Off Growing

First of all, I cannot stress enough how easy it is to keep this garden growing.  All I had to do was set it up, plug it in and that was it!  All the feedback you find online about the AeroGarden is true: it is "set it and forget it."

The first ones out of the gate were my two Basil
seedlings.

2. Instant Gratification

Well, not really "instant" but awesomely quick.  At left, you will see the first two seedlings to peek were the Genovese Basil and the Thai Basil.  Not surprising since earlier this week they sprouted after only 3 days.  According to the instructions, now that they are pushing on their respective humidity domes, I can remove them.

Although still very early in development, the root
system is exploding!
I also pulled the Genovese from the setup to check on the root growth.  Although still very early in development, the root system seems to be aggressively growing which is, of course, a great sign of health.

3. Thinking About What's To Come

Now that I know that this system seems to be working smoothly, I'm excited to see how the rest of the seedlings will fair.

Waiting patiently for the other herbs to show signs of life.
Unfortunately, I do have a few more days and even weeks in some cases before the rest of the herbs will peak out from their "shells."
